Featuring updates and corrections to all volumes of The Glass Candlestick Book, a three volume reference work in encyclopedic format showing thousands of candlesticks from over one hundred American glass companies. More...
About The Glass Candlestick Book Series:
This three volume set is by far the most comprehensive reference available on American pressed glass candlesticks. It contains thousands of entries from more than a hundred manufacturers and spans the entire history of pressed glass in the US. A must-have for dealers and collectors.
Chapters are logically arranged by manufacturer with the candlesticks listed chronologically (as much as possible) within the chapter. A brief company history, complete with known colors and trademarks, begins each chapter. Candlesticks are described in detail, including information on look-alikes, reissues and reproductions (where applicable). A value range accompanies each listing.
As a bonus, each volume contains a well-illustrated appendix focusing on a particular area of glass candlestick collecting. As-well-as a unique illustrated index showing thumbnail photographs of all of the candlesticks in the volume. A glossary and extensive bibliography round out each book.
News:
Tom Felt's excellent book on the L. E. Smith Glass Company has sold out but you may still be able to find a copy on eBay. It will be well worth your while to try as it contains a wealth of information about the company and dozens of new attributions.
The Encyclopedia of Cobalt Glass Identifications & Values by Tom Felt, Gene & Bernadette Girard is still available. This excellent reference on cobalt glass is available here and at most on-line booksellers.
As always, go to our update pages for the latest additions and corrections for all volumes of The Glass Candlestick Book. Recently added information is highlighted in blue.

This candlestick (c. 1870’s) is hard to find in crystal but this is the first one we’ve seen in color.
It was reproduced by Fostoria during the 1970’s in crystal, blue and olive green - all with a satin finish. The reproductions are marked HFM (Henry Ford Museum) in the folds of her skirt but the marking is often difficult to see. Originals can be found with a full or partial satin finish.
There’s reportedly a matching male candlestick that’s even more rare. We’ve never seen one but hope springs eternal...
